A friend recently sent me a series of voice messages through Facebook Messenger filled with questions about consciousness, creation, fear, Oneness, forgiveness, the subconscious mind, the nature of what we call reality, and whether we are somehow responsible for everything that enters our field of experience.

As I began responding, I realized that many of her questions were questions I had wrestled with myself for years. My response became far too long for Messenger, and it occurred to me that there may be value in publishing some of what I have learned through my own extraordinary experiences, contemplation, and exploration of the creative process.

The Conversation That Inspired This Article

With my friend’s permission, I am also sharing the original response I wrote to her questions. Because her voice messages touched on so many different areas of consciousness, Creation, the subconscious mind, fear, forgiveness, Oneness, Divine Design, and our relationship with the outer world, my response became quite extensive.

Rather than trying to reproduce that entire personal exchange here, I have developed some of the ideas into this article so they can be explored more broadly.

If you would like to see the original response that inspired this article, you can read it here:

Read the original Google Doc:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xFqNqNDECRp15OP9L8X4keDjiH0YT2_aOTKGW8Oh5hs/edit?usp=sharing

I am sharing it because sometimes it is useful to see the questions and insights in the context in which they originally arose. The article you are reading is not simply a repetition of that response. It is an expansion of the ideas that emerged from the conversation and of what I have continued to recognize through my own experience.

I believe these questions are useful for anyone seeking to comprehend their experience of life. What becomes possible when we say “Yes” to Love?

Some of what I am exploring here builds upon articles already published on Freedomdove.net:

It Is Always A Good Idea To Know What We Are Giving Life To
https://freedomdove.net/2026/07/16/it-is-always-a-good-idea-to-know-what-we-are-giving-life-to/

I also explored this from another direction in:

Claiming the Ideal Timeline Under Grace
https://freedomdove.net/2026/06/26/claiming-the-future-timeline/

That article helped me articulate an important distinction:

I am not learning how to create. Creation is already complete.

For me, the work is becoming conscious of how I am directing the energy of Creation and what I am bringing myself into resonance with. I’ve noticed that the producers of the movie The Secret have been very effective at using spiritual principles and the principles of creation to establish a world based on what is important to them. For example, they flashed money raining down, big houses, elegant cars, boats, vacations, etc. They didn’t touch on experiencing a world where man’s inherent right to the essentials of life — such as fresh clean water, fresh air, nutritious food, shelter, and the amenities of modern-day life — is honored.

That changes everything.

Creation Is Already Complete

One of the most important distinctions I have been coming to recognize is that I am not manufacturing something from nothing. Everything already exists within the nonphysical or astral field of Creation as possibility, potential, and expression.

The intelligent life giving energy that informs the seed and keeps Earth and the planets in motion is flowing through my body, my affairs, all dimensions, all realities, and all potential realities. There is nowhere this intelligence is not present.

For me, that means the work is not creating something that does not already exist. It is becoming conscious of how I am directing the energy of Creation and what I am bringing myself into resonance with.

Florence Scovel Shinn speaks of the Divine Design.
Neville Goddard repeatedly speaks of Creation being finished and of entering the state in which the desired reality is already fulfilled.

My own experiences have caused these teachings to resonate deeply with me.

The question therefore becomes less:
“How do I create what I want?”

and more:
“What am I presently aligned with?”

Am I directing the energy of Creation through old conditioning, fear, inherited assumptions, guilt, separation, and the limited intellectual mind?
Or am I bringing my conscious mind, subconscious mind, emotional body, imagination, words, assumptions, and physiology into resonance with the Divine Design that already exists?

For me, conscious participation in Creation is about remembering, selecting, aligning, and allowing what is already complete to become actualized within experience.

When the Veil Lifted

During my Life Review on November 3rd, 2000, something I can only describe as a veil lifted. I became aware of how much of my experience had been operating through subconscious programming, emotional conditioning, assumptions, identification, fear, guilt, and stories I had accepted as reality.

It was like discovering I had been living under a kind of hypnotic trance.

I also recognized that I had moved away from a soul plan that had already been shown to me in a series of visions in 1993. That realization was profoundly disturbing.

But once I could see the mechanism, I had something I did not previously possess consciously: choice.

I could begin asking what I was agreeing with.
What was I identifying with?
What was I impressing upon the subconscious?
What state was I occupying?
What was I giving life to?

And perhaps most importantly:
Was what I was aligning with consistent with the Divine Design?

The Outer World Is Not My Final Authority

During the Life Review, I realized the holographic nature of reality, with the brain functioning as the projector. It also brought back into awareness earlier experiences that had shown me the Oneness of life. Since then, I have had many other extraordinary experiences that have continued to support this knowing.

It was through Neville Goddard’s lectures that I gained greater clarity around something I had increasingly been observing: the outer world appeared to function as a reflection of past assumptions, subconscious impressions, beliefs, and states of consciousness.

The problem arises when I continually look at the reflection and allow what is already appearing to tell me what must happen next.

If I keep staring at yesterday’s projection through the lens of what I believe to be true because of information held within the carnal, conditioned mind or intellect, reacting emotionally to what I see, and then impressing that reaction back upon the subconscious, I can continue feeding the very same state.

At some point, I have to turn my attention back toward the projector.

What am I assuming?

What am I imagining?

What am I saying?

What am I feeling?

What identity am I occupying?

What am I agreeing with?

What becomes possible when I stop believing I am limited to what is currently being experienced or to what has already been created through distortion?

Can I actually surrender the past to the intelligence of Source and open myself to possibilities that the conditioned intellect cannot yet perceive?

This is why becoming the observer has become so important to me. I can notice what is being presented without automatically becoming identified with it.

Becoming aware of how profoundly the subconscious influences what I experience was one of the missing links for me.

It also caused me to begin questioning many of the assumptions I had accepted about healing.

There is an enormous industry built around healing, fixing, treating, correcting, recovering, and becoming well. From my perspective, this raises an important question:

Could I sometimes keep myself in a loop by continually identifying as someone who needs to be healed?

If I repeatedly tell the subconscious that something is wrong with me, that I am damaged, that I am sick, that I am still healing, or that I must continually search outside myself for the next thing that will finally make me whole, what am I actually impressing upon it?

Could we, without realizing it, sometimes continue energizing the very state we are trying to move beyond?

For me, this does not mean denying what the body is experiencing or refusing practical care when it is appropriate. It means becoming conscious of the deeper identity and assumption from which I am approaching the experience.

Am I relating to myself as something broken that must continually be repaired?

Or am I remembering that there is an intelligent, life giving energy already informing every cell of my body, just as it informs the seed and participates in the movement of Creation?

This same question applies to my soul plan.

Am I keeping myself from actualizing the soul plan when I believe I have to strive to get there?

If the Divine Design is already complete, then perhaps striving itself can become another declaration that I am not there.

That realization has changed the way I approach spiritual practice.

Instead of trying to force myself toward a future expression, I am increasingly interested in becoming receptive to, and aligned with, what is already complete within Divine Mind.

This is one reason I have taken up the ritual I describe in:

The Night Method: Sacred Sowing of the Divine Wish Fulfilled

For me, the Night Method is not about struggling to manufacture a future. It is about using that profoundly receptive state before sleep to impress the subconscious with the wish already fulfilled, surrendering the burden of how to the greater intelligence of Source.

Rather than carrying yesterday’s projection into sleep and unconsciously planting it again, I can deliberately return to the Divine Design.

I can enter the feeling of what is already complete.

I can allow the old picture to lose its authority.

And I can surrender the unfolding to the intelligence that sees possibilities far beyond what my conditioned intellect presently knows.

That distinction feels increasingly important to me:

I am not striving to become what I am not. I am releasing what keeps me from experiencing what is already true within the Divine Design.

I am using what I have learned about the subconscious to my advantage. Because the subconscious does not distinguish between what is vividly imagined, experienced in the dream state, or occurring in the outer world in the same way the conscious intellect does, I can consciously impress upon it the experience of the Divine Design as already fulfilled.

That is part of why the state before sleep has become so valuable to me. Rather than allowing the subconscious to continue receiving and rehearsing the old projection, I can give it a new impression, one that is aligned with what I know is already complete within Divine Mind.

What Is Entering the Subconscious?

Another area I have become increasingly conscious of is how continually we are exposed to symbols, stories, language, emotional narratives, music, imagery, advertising, entertainment, social media, and news.

For much of my life I did not consciously contemplate what these impressions might be doing within me. I watched. I listened. My body reacted without my awareness. I absorbed.

The conscious intellect may say:
“It’s only a movie.”
“It’s only television.”
“It’s only the news.”
“It’s only a song.”

But the subconscious is still receiving imagery, language, repetition, emotional charge, symbolism, identification, and suggestion. I became aware that I had unconsciously given over the programming of my subconscious mind to others. This powerful idea, famously stated by Florence Scovel Shinn, means that external forces will shape your beliefs and habits if you do not guide them yourself.

Media and advertising shape what we fear, want, and buy.
Social circles pass on their own biases and limits.
Daily routines form unconscious habits from the environment.

Now I approach this very differently.

Conscious Interruption Rather Than Unconscious Absorption

If something I am watching causes fear, anger, disgust, shame, helplessness, anxiety, or another strong reaction within me, I do not believe I have to continue absorbing it merely because it has been placed before me. I can turn away.

This gives me an opportunity to examine my state and ask whether these reactions are aligned with what I know to be true at my core, or whether they are arising from a conditioned state that is not present when I am experiencing the Divine Design.

Turning away, for me, is not denial. It is conscious interruption.

I can stop long enough to ask: What has this activated within me? Is there a memory, belief, assumption, unresolved fear, or emotional pattern being triggered? What is happening within the physiology of my body? And is the state I am entering aligned with my soul plan and the Divine Design?

Once I recognize what has been activated, I can work with it rather than continuing to feed it through repeated attention and emotional reaction. I can clear the trigger, return to my center, and allow my state to shift.

Then, if there is a reason for me to look again, I can return to what is being presented from a different state of consciousness. Rather than meeting the image through the conditioned reaction, I can meet it through the transformational and transmutational frequency of the Light within me.

That changes my relationship with what I am seeing.

I am no longer merely a passive receiver of the projection. I am consciously choosing the state from which I behold it and what I allow to become impressed upon my subconscious.

What Are We Agreeing With?

Florence Scovel Shinn’s Your Word Is Your Wand caused me to contemplate this from another direction.

If words, images, assumptions, repetition, imagination, and emotional agreement carry creative significance, what happens when the same stories and images are projected before millions of men and women?

I find myself wondering: How aware are those working within entertainment, advertising, media, music, news, and popular culture of the power of what they are projecting?

Some may simply be creating art or entertainment. Some certainly comprehend psychology, repetition, suggestion, emotional engagement, branding, symbolism, narrative, and the power of identification.

I do not need to know what every entertainer or producer consciously intends in order to become responsible for my side of the interaction.

The more important question becomes:

Am I conscious of what I am agreeing with?
-Am I emotionally entering the story and embodying the state it is presenting?
-When I become identified with the so called negative emotions being evoked, am I creating distance between myself and the full embodiment of the Divine Design?
-Am I repeating the language of separation and thereby continuing to give life to it?
-Am I identifying with fear, violence, scarcity, conflict, objectification, hopelessness, or separation?
-Am I allowing somebody else’s imagination to become an unchecked impression upon my subconscious?
-Or can I become the observer, recognize what is being activated within me, and consciously choose whether I am willing to give that state my attention, emotional energy, and agreement?
-And when millions of men and women repeatedly watch, discuss, fear, condemn, celebrate, imitate, and emotionally energize the same narrative, what kind of collective field are we sustaining together?

This causes me to wonder whether much of what we call entertainment is also training the imagination, whether the men and women creating it fully comprehend that or not.

Entertainment asks us to imagine, to anticipate, to identify, to feel, and to enter another reality temporarily.

So I now ask:
What am I training my imagination to expect?
What am I normalizing?
What am I rehearsing?
What am I consenting to internally?
And does any of it agree with the Divine Design I know within me?

If not, I do not need to fight the image. I do not need to fear whoever created it. I can simply withdraw my agreement.

That feels enormously important.

I may not have written the script.
I may not have produced the program.
I may not have selected the symbol.

But I still have responsibility for what I do with it once it enters my awareness.

Why Is This Being Shown to Me?

Another question has begun arising for me:

Why has this particular image, story, symbol, event, or idea entered my awareness?

Perhaps sometimes it is revealing an unresolved trigger.
Perhaps it is showing me an assumption that is still active.
Perhaps it is showing me something within consciousness that is ready to be restored.
Perhaps it is inviting me to become aware of fear, separation, condemnation, helplessness, or another state that is not resonant with my Divine Design, giving me the opportunity to recognize, clear, and transmute what has been activated rather than unconsciously embodying it.

And perhaps my responsibility is first to notice:

I do not have to accept or embody the state being presented to me.

I can observe it.
I can notice the reaction.
I can recognize what has been activated.
I can clear and transmute what is not resonant with my Divine Design.
I can return to the heart.
I can ask the Higher Self for clarity.

And then I can consciously choose the state from which I meet what has appeared.

This changes the question from:

“What are they doing to us?”

to:

“What am I agreeing with, and where am I directing the energy of Creation as I behold it?”

That puts creative authority back where I believe it belongs.

It also reminds me of something Neville Goddard continually pointed toward: God dreaming the human experience. I often summarize this for myself as, “You are God dreaming you are a man or woman.”

This brings me back to the question of Divine identification. Who am I identifying as while I behold what is appearing before me?

This question recently became very personal for me through a new relationship. I found myself reflecting on an experience I had when I was ten years old, when the external world disappeared from my awareness and I experienced myself within an immense field of living Light. In that state, the inherited stories and the emotions of fear, anger, resentment, shame, blame, and guilt were simply gone. What remained was a depth of Love that I still cannot adequately describe.

When my awareness returned to the outer world, I was so overwhelmed by the contrast that I could not stop crying. I went to my bunk and cried myself to sleep.

What has only recently become strikingly clear to me is this: I had directly experienced that depth of Love as a child, yet I had never fully allowed myself to experience that same depth of Love within my human relationships.

That was a profound realization.

If I already know that state, then perhaps the question is not how to manufacture Love or somehow become worthy of receiving it. Perhaps the question is: What conditioning, assumptions, fear, and subconscious impressions have kept me from allowing myself to embody and experience the Love I already know?

My recent experience has also reminded me that the subconscious and energetic aspects of myself can sometimes appear to recognize something before the conscious intellect has caught up. This gives me another opportunity to observe rather than immediately define the experience, and to allow what is arising to reveal itself without forcing it through the old conditioned stories.

This is also why a short video I came across, “The Law of Divine Identification,” exploring the teaching associated with Neville’s mentor Abdullah, caught my attention:

Perhaps what is appearing before me is not only giving me an opportunity to notice what has been activated. Perhaps it is also asking me:

Who am I identifying as in this moment?

If I identify entirely with the conditioned reaction, I experience from that state. But when I remember the Divine Self beneath the conditioning, I can meet the same appearance from an entirely different state of consciousness.

For me, this is part of what it means to awaken from the dream while still participating in it.

One Power Rather Than Two

Florence Scovel Shinn wrote:

“Fear is only inverted faith; it is faith in evil instead of good.”

That statement has stayed with me because it continually brings me back to her teaching about the belief in two powers.

If Source is Infinite, where would another independent Source exist?

Recognizing distorted consciousness does not mean I must give distortion the same creative authority as Source.

For me, this distinction is enormous.

I know distorted fields of consciousness exist.

I know fear creates distortion.

But distortion is not Source.

What has become distorted can be restored.

What arose through fear can be transmuted.

Energy does not need to be annihilated. It can change in resonance, frequency, density, and expression.

This is why I prefer transmutation over opposition. I do not need to fight darkness endlessly. I would rather bring what has become distorted into the transformational and transmutational field of Light and witness the transfiguration take place naturally.

Perhaps this is also why I was once told:

“You must love the virus as yourself.”

That message stayed with me because it challenged the instinct to divide life into what belongs to Source and what does not.

If all life arises within One Source, then perhaps restoration does not come through hatred, fear, rejection, or opposition, but through bringing what has become distorted back into the field of Love from which nothing was ever truly separate.

For me, that does not mean becoming passive in the presence of something harmful. It means recognizing that I do not have to enter the same frequency as what I am observing in order to respond to it.

I can behold it from another state.

I can remain identified with the Light.

I can allow the transformational frequency of Love to become the field through which I meet what has appeared.

And perhaps this is another expression of the question that runs throughout this article:

From what state of consciousness am I meeting what is before me?

Use the Subconscious Deliberately

Once I realized that the subconscious does not distinguish between what is actually happening and what is vividly imagined, and that it is continually receiving impressions, I became much more deliberate about what I impress upon it.

Florence wrote:
“Soul sleep means that man’s soul has been hypnotized by the race belief (of sin, sickness and death, etc.) which is carnal or mortal thought, and his affairs have outpictured his illusions.”

She also wrote:
“Many people have brought disaster into their lives through idle words.”

For me, these are reminders to pay attention.

What am I repeatedly saying?
What am I picturing?
What am I emotionally rehearsing?
What am I expecting?
What assumptions have I accepted?
Am I impressing fear or Love?
Separation or Unity?
The old picture or the Divine Design?

Cast the Burden

Another tool that has become invaluable for me is recognizing when the intellectual mind simply does not have enough information to resolve something.

For much of my life I tried to manipulate the outer world from the conditioned mind. Now I increasingly surrender the burden to what I call the Superconscious Mind, Divine Spirit, Higher Mind, Christ Within, or Higher Self.

I acknowledge the situation.
I ask for clarity.
I listen.
I allow the greater intelligence to participate rather than assuming the intellect must solve everything alone.

Sometimes my most powerful action is surrender.

Observe the Voice

I also pay much closer attention to the voices moving through consciousness.

Is this thought aligned with Love?
Does it sound like the intelligence that informs life?
Or is it accusation, shame, condemnation, fear, hopelessness, division, or unworthiness?

When I recognize a voice that is not resonant with my authentic Self, I can say:
“That is not the voice of my true, authentic Self, which knows only Love and is radically intelligent.”

I do not have to fight the voice. I do not have to identify with it. I can allow it to pass and return my attention to what I know.

Forgiveness and Acceptance as Restoration

The words “Forgive them, for they know not what they do” have become increasingly profound for me.

When consciousness is operating through distortion, men and women often do not comprehend what they are creating. And that includes me.

There are things I did earlier in life from a state of consciousness I no longer occupy. That does not make me inherently evil. It means I did not see what I now see.

This brings up the importance of showing children awareness and having them ask themselves questions. I realized when my own children were very young that we all come in with language, the intelligence intact, and knowing our reason for being. It is through acts of violence that we drown out what is already within us.

For me, forgiveness is not pretending something did not occur. It is refusing to continually recreate myself through guilt, shame, blame, grief, and the identity of the old state.

The heart is Love. It is the conditioned mind that needs restoration.

When I move into the Higher Self’s perspective, forgiveness becomes remembering what I forgot — that I am love and light. I experienced myself as the field of light and a light body, and this light transcends and transmutes all fear.

Nonresistance Is Not Passivity

Florence’s teaching on nonresistance has also become important to me.

I do not have to become hateful to recognize hatred.
I do not have to become fearful to recognize fear.
I do not have to become obsessed with darkness in order to see it clearly.

I can recognize harm.
I can exercise discernment.
I can establish boundaries.
I can take right action.
And I can remain rooted in Love.

Perhaps one of the greatest traps is allowing what I oppose to determine the state from which I respond. When I notice myself moving into opposition, I can deliberately return to the sanctuary of the heart, where neutrality allows me to see clearly without becoming identified with what I am observing.

She reminds us:
“Continual criticism produces rheumatism, as critical, inharmonious thoughts cause unnatural deposits in the blood, which settle in the joints. False growths are caused by jealousy, hatred, unforgiveness, fear, et cetera. Every disease is caused by a mind not at ease.”

And she shares many examples of how her clients were freed from skin conditions by freeing their subconscious of anger and resentment.

Am I Fulfilling the Law?

More and more, everything comes down to one foundational question:
Am I fulfilling the law?

Romans 13:10 says:
“Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.”

That has become a practical measure for me.

Does this thought work ill?
Does this interpretation work ill?
Does this story work ill?
Does what I am saying work ill?
Am I strengthening separation or restoring Unity?
Am I directing the energy of Creation through fear or through Love, through lack and limitation or through eternal flow?
Am I operating through the conditioned mind, or through the Higher Self and the Intelligence of the Heart?

For me, this is what restoring the Law of One — the Law of Love — means in practice.

The Divine Design Is Already There

Ultimately, I am not trying to force Creation to give me something it has not already conceived.

The Divine Design is already there.
The soul plan is already there.
The ideal expression already exists.

My work is becoming conscious of what keeps taking me out of resonance with it.

What am I still believing?
What am I still fearing?
What am I still rehearsing?
What old identities am I carrying?
What am I allowing the outer world to tell me about myself?
What am I agreeing with?

And what happens when I consciously redirect the energy of Creation toward what is already whole and complete within Divine Mind?

I found it difficult to engage in life after the veil was lifted. I took actions that actually continued to harm me because I didn’t fully comprehend what was happening. I was taking steps in anger and resentment, creating problems for myself.

Perhaps this is what navigating life after the veil has lifted actually requires:

Not trying to control everything outside of myself.
Not becoming fascinated with every distortion.
Not collecting endless explanations.

But learning to recognize what I am aligned with in each moment.

Empty the cup.
Become the observer.
Notice the trigger.
Withdraw agreement from fear.
Clear the distortion.
Direct the Higher Self and Superconscious mind.
Direct the subconscious consciously.
Cast the burden.
Transmute rather than fight.
Fulfill the Law.
Align with the Divine Design.
Return everything to Source Love.
