Turning Attention Away from the Old Picture: Neville Goddard, Florence Scovel Shinn, and the Science of Creation

Greetings, beloveds,
I have been reflecting deeply on the messages landing in my field of awareness, and I feel moved to share these reflections here for those who are interested in manifestation, conscious creation, and remembering how we participate in shaping reality. These concepts are explored through the wisdom of metaphysicians, mystics, sages, neuroscientists, psychotherapists, physicists, and many others who have studied the nature of consciousness.
I am seeing more clearly how I may unknowingly keep anchoring the very reality I say I do not want when my attention remains fixed on the outer picture — especially when I do not fully comprehend the creative genius I was born with.
Recently, I came across the teachings of Neville Goddard, and they have been landing at the perfect time. Neville’s mentor, Abdullah, taught him to “know Self” and to live from the end result. This has helped me remember that imagination is our creative capacity.
Since then, I have been devouring many of the videos showing up in my feed.
I have found that the messages arriving in my awareness are inviting me to look more deeply at the design of the human being, the mechanism of creation, and the creative power we carry within.
I have come to realize that the world I experience is filtered through many presumptions and assumptions I acquired from the society I was born into. For much of my life, I did not question what I was told, and I did not truly read or comprehend the contracts, agreements, and social expectations I was accepting. Even when I did read them, I now see that I often did not have the awareness, context, or language to fully comprehend what I was agreeing to.
I am also beginning to question how many of the contracts, roles, labels, and obligations I once endorsed were accepted through presumption rather than true conscious agreement — and whether they actually reflect who I am as a living woman, a sovereign biofield, and a conscious expression of Divine Intelligence.
I cannot fully live the world I know is possible while refusing to examine those presumptions, or while refusing to shift my thoughts and feelings about myself and the people in my field of experience.
These inherited ideas became part of the inner lens through which I looked at life, and until that lens is cleared, even the light of possibility can appear distorted.
I’ve come to realize that I am not seeing everything that exists.
My eyes have been conditioned to see what I have been taught to see. Yet as I became aware of the inner eye — often referred to as the third eye — I began to realize that vision is not limited to physical sight. There are deeper ways of perceiving, sensing, and experiencing the multidimensional nature of life.
The idea of a holographic reality became more solidified for me when I revisited childhood experiences during a life review on November 3, 2000. During that experience, a mini-movie played out on the inner screen of my third eye, and I was shown a chart reflecting my subconscious programming.
I was effectively seeing the images from three states of consciousness, or three points of view: my present self in apparent misery, myself as a child, and the Unified Field of all thought and all possibilities.
This gave me insight into how programming happens, how perception is shaped, and how the outer picture can become a projection of inner patterns.
From what I have experienced, consciousness appears to be both a field of experience and a point of view. The consciousness of a mouse is not the same as the consciousness of a bird, nor even the consciousness of the sun. Each point of view has its own field of perception.
The Unified Field, or Superconsciousness, appears to hold the record of all points of view. This field of awareness and intelligence flows through everything and records everything — seen and unseen. It is non-discriminatory. It does not judge. It simply witnesses, holds, and reflects.
I have experienced this field as carrying a frequency capable of transcending and transmuting what is held in judgment, returning it to neutrality.
Through this, I realized that I am both the projector and the projected, and that the body functions like a living battery with an electromagnetic field — what I call the “attractor field.”
I was shown the ideas, beliefs, and often contradictory thoughts that had been imprinted into my attractor field by family members, church leaders, school teachers, peers, and others around me.
Some of these impressions came through words spoken over me, such as, “She’s shy,” or “You’re stupid.” Others came through tone, treatment, correction, dismissal, comparison, expectation, and emotional atmosphere.
From those experiences, I began forming my own conclusions about myself and life. Many of those conclusions became limiting beliefs. I can now see how outer voices became inner programming, and how that programming shaped the reality I unconsciously expected, perceived, and projected.
I feel inspired to clear this subconscious programming so my attractor field becomes transparent enough to align with the Unified Field — enhancing my ability to see clearly, hear clearly, and receive the subtle guidance of Divine Intelligence.
As the old programming dissolves, my projection can arise from a purified and unfettered heart, reflecting the Divine Design rather than the distortions of fear, conditioning, or separation.
The image above captures this so clearly: the glowing brain lighting up, the dark city of old programming on one side, and the radiant natural world on the other.
When contemplating the natural world arising from Divine Intelligence, I realize the sun shines on everything equally.
Nature flows without demanding payment.
Love radiates by its own nature and needs no reciprocity.
The message is simple:
Change within.
Change without.
These messages landing in my field of awareness are inviting me to look more deeply at our human design, the mechanism of creation, and the creative power every one of us carries within.
I am recognizing that I am commanding — and constantly communicating with — the field through my attention, imagination, emotion, inner agreement, the thoughts I continue to nurture, and the words I speak into life.
Every thought I continue to entertain, every feeling I energize, every assumption I accept, and every word I speak into the field carries a creative instruction.
This is expressed so clearly in the Instagram reel that inspired part of this reflection:
Instagram reel:

It is up to me to take time to notice how this field, my body, my intuition, and my soul are communicating with me as I continue to explore the experiences that have shown me the oneness of all life.
Neville reflects this in his saying, “everyone is you pushed out.”
Rumi expresses it beautifully:
“Do not feel lonely; the entire universe is inside you.”
A similar idea often attributed to astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson:
“You are in the universe, and the universe is in you.”
I have personally experienced the oneness of life from many different angles or points of view as a lived experience.
The teachings of Neville Goddard have come at just the right time to give me clarity. His mentor, Abdullah, taught him to “know Self,” and the greatest secret of creation lies in the law of divine identification — recognizing that the true Self is already the source of all power, all love, and all abundance.
All I have to do is look at the natural world and see the abundance already programmed into it. The seed contains the tree. The fruit carries an abundance of seeds. The flower knows how to bloom. The sun shines without withholding. The river flows without asking permission.
What many do not realize is that certain aspects of the outer world arise from man’s own imagination, beliefs, fears, and agreements. Not everything we experience is the pure expression of Divine Design. Some of what we see is the out-picturing of distorted imagination, inherited programming, and the collective belief in separation, scarcity, loss, decay, and limitation.
The natural world, in alignment with Divine Design, reveals a deeper perfection — not as stagnation, but as flowing intelligence. Beneath the appearance of death, decay, and grief, there is transformation, renewal, and continuous life. What we perceive as loss may be the result of seeing through separation, rather than through the Unified Field where life is always moving, changing form, and flowing onward.
It is the conscious act of assuming the state of the fulfilled desire, not as a hope, but as a lived reality.
In this state, thoughts align with the eternal, emotions resonate with the Divine, and every action begins to flow from an unseen intelligence responding to inner consciousness. Florence Scovel Shinn eloquently shares this in her writings as well.
Divine identification requires total immersion — a persistent inner dialogue where we live and breathe as the perfect expression of the wish fulfilled.
The world becomes a reflection of this state, not through manipulation or force, but through the natural law that consciousness creates form.
As this inner identification is sustained, reality begins to mirror the inner truth. Circumstances shift. Synchronicities unfold. Every moment becomes a sacred opportunity to embody the Divine within, to see ourselves as the eternal Self, and to act from the perspective of infinite possibility.
The law of divine identification reveals that the outer world is not the master, but the servant of the inner state.
To live in alignment with this law is to live as a creator — fully aware, fully present, and consciously participating with the Divine within.
Neville Goddard reminds us that imagination is our creative power, and that the outer world is the mirror, not the cause. What appears “out there” is often the reflection of past assumptions, inner conversations, and states of consciousness.
Florence Scovel Shinn speaks to this beautifully as well:
“The superconscious mind is the God Mind within each man, and is the realm of perfect ideas. In it is the ‘perfect pattern’ spoken of by Plato, The Divine Design; for there is a Divine Design for each person.
‘There is for each man, perfect self-expression. There is a place which he is to fill and no one else can fill, something which he is to do, which no one else can do; it is his destiny!’
So man’s highest demand is for the Divine Design of his life. He may not have the faintest conception of what it is, for there is, possibly, some marvelous talent, hidden deep within him.”
Her powerful treatment or affirmation that goes with it is:
“Infinite Spirit, open the way for the Divine Design of my life to manifest; let the genius within me now be released; let me see clearly the perfect plan.”
This is one of her most beloved and fundamental teachings — that each of us has a unique, perfect place, purpose, and hidden gift already held in Divine Mind. We are invited to call it forth, release personal will, and allow it to unfold. ✨
As a meditation instructor, and as one who uses guided inner journey work in both group and individual sessions, I have come to realize there is a difference between imprinting a vision from past assumptions and truly receiving a vision.
One comes from the conditioned mind trying to rearrange what it already knows.
The other feels like it arrives from a deeper field — from the Superconscious, from Divine Intelligence, from the part of us that already knows the Divine Design of our life.
It feels like the picture of me as seen by Infinite Intelligence — the version of me that holds my full potential, my gifts, my radiance, and the higher expression I am being invited to align with.
Have you ever received a clear vision of your future self — a self beyond your wildest dreams, carrying attributes that defy the limitations imposed by the current version of who you thought you were?
These concepts are landing strongly through videos, reflections, and what is appearing in my news feed. They keep reminding me:
Turn attention away from what is unwanted — not in denial, but as a conscious act of creation.
Florence Scovel Shinn expresses this beautifully in The Game of Life and How to Play It, in her teaching on “Casting the Burden”:
“I cast this burden on the Christ within, and I go free.”
This is echoed in Matthew 11:28–30: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
I have been reflecting deeply on the messages landing in my field of awareness as I sit here contemplating my life, what I am currently experiencing, and all that has transpired over this lifetime.
Smiling to myself, I wonder why I never wrote an instruction manual for myself. Surely, I could have made this journey a little easier.
As I reflect, I can now see more clearly how I may unknowingly keep anchoring the very reality I say I do not want when my attention remains fixed on the outer picture — especially when I do not fully comprehend the creative genius I was born with.
I am being reminded that I cannot resolve a problem from the same mental and emotional state, or the same state of consciousness, that it was created from.
I now recognize how I have often been trying to fix or heal the problem with mental concepts alone, which can keep me in a mental prison of my own making.
Instead, I am now making a conscious effort to surrender the false stories, clear the old ideas, and place the burden on the Superconscious Mind — the Divine Intelligence within — and return to freedom. I have found the technique developed by Colette Streicher in the MAP, Make Anything Possible, Method to be very effective.
This self-aware intelligence field, flowing through my body and affairs, can rearrange situations and guide me when I listen and stop rehearsing the unwanted picture.
Instead, I ask:
What am I assuming?
What am I imagining?
What am I agreeing with emotionally?
What inner state am I occupying?
Am I feeding the old story, or am I entering the fulfilled state?
The outer world is not as fixed as it appears.
I have come to the realization that past, present, and future exist in consciousness now. When the inner assumption shifts, the outer picture begins to reorganize.
This realization became clearer after contemplating the visions I received of my future self in 1993. I found myself asking: How can I have a precognitive vision of something that has not already happened?
What I am beginning to realize is that the field of awareness is a living ocean of potential. The double-slit experiment, as symbolically explored in the 2004 film What the Bleep Do We Know!, offers a fascinating image for contemplating this. Before observation, possibility appears as wave-like potential. Once observed, it appears as something more defined.
In the same way, when I hold a clear vision with consistent feeling and inner assumption, it feels as though a wave of potential begins to organize into form. The field of awareness responds to every inner call. It reflects what I assume, imagine, fear, love, expect, and speak into life.
It is not “out there” creating me. I am participating with the field, calling forth which potential becomes experience — which possibility becomes the reality I live.
I limit the flow of creation only when I hold onto a limited version of what is possible. Therefore, I must become more conscious of what I am thinking, what I am feeling, and what I am lovingly holding as my living vision.
In this way, I partner with the field, allowing the wave of potential to actualize through the power of focused, felt knowing.
At night, I have been practicing this through what I call The Night Method: Sacred Sowing of the Divine Wish Fulfilled.
As the day comes to a close, I let go of the outer picture. I breathe deeply and allow my body to relax. As my body relaxes, my mind relaxes. I deliberately remember my life review and the feeling I experienced when I was embraced in the love of Divine Source.
From that state, I call up the visions of my future self — not as something far away, but as a memory, as though it has already happened. I allow myself to feel the feeling I felt during those visions, letting the body receive the imprint of the wish fulfilled.
In this way, I am not forcing the future. I am remembering the version of reality already held in the field of consciousness and allowing my inner state to align with it before sleep.
You can read more about this practice here:
The Night Method: Sacred Sowing of the Divine Wish Fulfilled

From this awareness, I have made a commitment to begin each day differently.
At the dawn of a new day, before the old story has a chance to return, I choose to plant a new seed in the field of consciousness. As my conscious mind rises from its sleeping state, I pause, breathe deeply, and speak with enthusiasm, holding the feeling of the wish fulfilled as a living memory — as though it is already here, already real, and already being lived:
“It is a new day. The past is the past, and every moment is a new beginning.
Today is a new day.
Today is a day of miracles.
I give thanks for this day of miracles.
Miracles shall follow miracles, and wonders shall never cease.
Superconscious Mind, Divine Spirit within me, I surrender. I surrender my conscious and subconscious mind to you, and I go free to be.
I am now guided by direct inspiration. I make right decisions quickly and easily. I am always in the right place at the right time, in accordance with the Divine Design of my life.
I give thanks, under grace, by the Law of One and the Law of Love, that it is here now, in the perfect way.
So mote it be.”

What once seemed like magic is simply the science of creation.
Neville Goddard reminds us:
“Assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled.”
This video explains it beautifully: the inner decision comes before the outer evidence.
I can see how I was allowing the outer version of reality to imprint my subconscious, effectively outsourcing my creative capacity to somebody else’s imagination and anchoring their version of reality.
Effectively, I was underutilizing my own imagination, my connection to the Divine within me, and the version of reality shown to me through a series of visions in 1993.
I have decided to stop waiting for the outside world to prove something before I shift.
I see the futility of forcing change in the outer world while repeating what is. I shift within first, and then the outer picture begins to reorganize around the state I am occupying.
That is what I am remembering more and more each day:
Turn attention away from what is unwanted, not in denial, but as a conscious act of creation.
Here is the Neville Goddard reflection that helped bring this into clearer focus for me:

Returning to Awe: How Amazing Is the Human Body
As I was creating this article, my dear friend Charlene shared a beautiful meditation video she created titled “How Amazing Is the Human Body.”
It arrived as a perfect reminder to return to awe.
Her video awakened a vivid memory within me — a moment when I actually embodied this state of awe while seeing through the eyes of the Unified Field, the Divine Intelligence from which all life arises.
So often, when we begin exploring consciousness, manifestation, cellular memory, the subconscious mind, and the field around us, we may forget to pause and truly marvel at the body through which we are having this experience.
The human body is not merely a physical structure. It is a living instrument of perception, sensation, awareness, memory, emotion, intuition, intelligence, and Divine communication. It breathes without being commanded. The heart beats. The blood flows. The cells renew. The nervous system receives and responds. The body speaks through sensation, energy, contraction, expansion, pain, ease, intuition, and feeling.
What if the body is not something to fix, judge, control, or condemn?
What if the body is a sacred companion — a living temple, a field of intelligence, and a vessel through which consciousness experiences this moment?
Charlene’s video invited me to return to awe.
To pause.
To breathe.
To feel gratitude for the human design I am experiencing life through.
To remember that this body is not separate from the field of consciousness, but participates with it.
When we soften into awe, we may begin to listen differently. We may begin to notice the body as a messenger rather than an obstacle. We may begin to sense where old memories, emotions, judgments, and impressions are still being held. From this awareness, we can gently invite the body back into the present moment.
This is not about forcing transformation.
It is about remembering the intelligence already here.
It is about returning to reverence for the body, the breath, the heart, and the Divine Life moving through all things.
How Amazing Is the Human Body
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVmqarHAsBs
After watching, you may wish to ask yourself:
Can I feel gratitude for the body that has carried me through every experience of my life?
Can I listen more tenderly to the sensations, messages, and memories held within me?
Can I allow awe to soften the places where I have judged myself?
Can I return to the present moment and remember that this body is part of the creative field through which life is expressing?
The more I contemplate the human body, the more I realize it is not a mistake, a burden, or a limitation. It is a sacred technology of consciousness — a living bridge between the seen and unseen, the physical and spiritual, the personal and universal.
I am reminded of the beautiful reflection so eloquently spoken by Charlene:
“You inhale what trees exhale.
Trees inhale what you exhale.
This is not poetry. This is biology.
Your body is in constant conversation with plants, rivers, soil, and air.Remember, you are not a machine that must be fixed.
You are a living ecosystem of unimaginable complexity and beauty.
Eighty-six billion neurons, seven trillion nerves, spirals, fractals, fields.
When you open your eyes, do so with awe, because you are walking geometry.
You are breathing mathematics.
You are luminous biology.”
These words landed deeply in me because they remind us that the body is not separate from life. The body is in constant exchange with trees, plants, rivers, soil, air, breath, light, sound, memory, and consciousness.
When we remember this, we return to awe — not only for the body, but for life itself.
The body is not a machine to be repaired as though it is broken. It is a living ecosystem, a sacred technology of consciousness, and a luminous expression of Divine Intelligence moving through form.
Will you join me in a living experiment — one designed to anchor, embody, and remember the world our souls are calling us toward?
Please message me privately, or email me at sophia@freedomdove.net, if you would like to be added to the email list.
I am being guided to host a group Zoom where we will be gently guided to move into vibrational resonance with our Higher Self and activate the Divine Design of our lives.
In the meantime, Dr Joe Dispenza has offered a beautiful global gathering for World Meditation Day.
“Imagine thousands of people around the world coming together at the same time as one heart and one mind with the sole intention of blessing this wonderful world we live on with love, gratitude, and coherence.”
For the full message, use this link:
Joe Dispenza World Meditation Day video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YRpsih2-4w
The guided meditation features new music recorded live with singer Mei-lan Maurits and is available as a free 15-minute meditation titled “Universal Heart, Universal Mind.”
This meditation is an invitation to practice creating heart and brain coherence and leading in love. No prior meditation experience is needed, and everyone is welcome.
Registration for the free guided meditation is available here:
https://pages.drjoedispenza.com/world-meditation-day
Even if you missed the May 21, 2026, event, the registration page indicates access is available until June 1. And from my perspective, the coherent field created through sincere group meditation is held in consciousness and can be entered again through intention, presence, and remembrance.
May we stop feeding the old picture.
May we turn inward and listen to the living intelligence already breathing through us.
May we remember the creative power within.
May we return to awe for the body, the breath, the heart, the trees, the rivers, the soil, the air, and the sacred field of life we are always exchanging with.
May we remember that we are not machines to be fixed, but luminous living beings — walking geometry, breathing mathematics, and embodied expressions of Divine Intelligence.
May we anchor the world our souls already know is possible.
I had a dream, and you were in it as a perfect idea!!
I look forward to meeting you in the field.
See you there.
With love, reverence for life, and resolve,
