How Some Teachings on “Imagination” May Be Setting You Up for Limitation

“The One Who Flows With The River”
A recent post in a Gnosis group invited me into deeper reflection on imagination, truth, and the creative process.
The contributor wrote:
“Manage the possibility that if you didn’t imagine it, it wouldn’t be real… because through the imagination comes the meaning of experience, concepts, and all else, on all levels through all people. Imagine if ideas were just imagination. Truth… what is it?”
At first glance, it sounds profound. But something felt deeply off when I read it alongside the accompanying meme: “The wise man is one who knows what he does not know.”
While that statement contains insight, I also found it incomplete and potentially misleading when weighed against my own direct experience. I know, from lived experience, that every child is born with access to Infinite Intelligence — an innate knowing that becomes hidden once they are conditioned by the people in their field of influence.
Here is the meme as published on Facebook:

Children and the Innate Field of Knowing
As a mother, I witnessed this clearly. When my oldest daughter was around six and my youngest, Amber, was about ten months old, I watched my oldest drop into a trance-like state while sitting directly in front of her baby sister and staring into her eyes. After a few moments, she threw her head back and exclaimed, “Mommy, you won’t believe it — Amber just showed me what she’s going to do when she grows up!”
When I asked what she saw, she replied, “She told me not to tell you.”
In that moment, my whole worldview shattered. I realized that nothing was as I had been told. Telepathy is natural. Children come into this world with far more intelligence, awareness, and alignment with Source than our culture acknowledges.
I keep thinking: Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every child had people around them who supported their infinite intelligence and divine design? Why have we narrowed our vision, accepted a false identity, and been taught we must learn from others who are often only speculating?
The Trap Hidden in “If You Didn’t Imagine It, It Isn’t Real”
The statement “if you didn’t imagine it, it isn’t real” is vague and potentially trapping. Yes, everything in our experience first arises from thought or imagination before it materializes. However, the danger lies in believing that the cognitive, personal mind is the only source of imagination. That belief can lock us inside our own mental constructs.
There is another trap as well: believing the material world is finite and that we can only create from what already exists. The idea that the body is merely a shell comes to mind. When we accept that belief, we may begin to see the body as limited and assume that external technology is needed to enhance the human experience, rather than remembering the body’s divine design and its innate, unlimited potential.
In truth, when we do not fully understand the body’s divine design and its unlimited potential, the technologies we create can become traps — keeping us from activating our innate abilities.
For example, if I fully remembered and activated my natural telepathic ability, would I still feel the same need for a cell phone?
Both traps cut us off from direct access to Infinite Intelligence, superconscious guidance, and the Higher Self — which can show us realities far beyond anything we could fabricate on our own. That limitation is a recipe for spiritual failure.
I have lived the opposite.
Since I began meditating at fifteen, I have repeatedly transcended the mental realm and entered the void — the endless stillness beyond thought. At sixteen, I stepped beyond thought altogether. On November 3, 2000, while in a deep state of despair, I entered what I can only describe as a life review, where a mini-movie played out in my mind’s eye. During that experience, I was reminded of something that happened when I was around ten years old, when my conscious awareness was brought into a field of living light. I realized that thoughts are things. Over the decades, I have observed myself, entered the consciousness of others, received direct visions from the superconscious, and been given large blocks of living knowledge during out-of-body and in-body states. I have also guided hundreds of people through group and private sessions and watched the imaging faculty at work.
Visualizing vs. Visioning
Florence Scovel Shinn, in her book The Game of Life and How to Play It, made the distinction crystal clear:
“Visualizing is a mental process governed by the reasoning or conscious mind. Visioning is a spiritual process, governed by intuition, or the superconscious mind.” — Florence Scovel Shinn
Visualizing is intellectual and effortful. Visioning arrives as a living flash from the Infinite Intelligence field — a divine picture received directly through the Higher Self.
Neville Goddard Took It Even Further
Neville Goddard took this understanding even further. He taught that God is your own wonderful human Imagination — not imagination as fantasy or daydreaming, but Imagination as the living creative power of the Divine itself.
He expressed this through the practice of “living in the end”:
“Assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled.”
— Neville Goddard
To live in the end is not merely to picture a desire from a distance. It is to become inwardly identified with the state fulfilled.
The part many people miss is that the most powerful imaginal acts are not always the ones we force with the intellect. Often, they are the spontaneous visions that arise from the superconscious — living images received from a deeper field of knowing.
Neville states this clearly in his 1968 lecture “Imagination, the Real Man”:
“Your own wonderful human Imagination is God. That is the divine body that the world calls Jesus.”

Direct Downloads from Infinite Intelligence
At nine, I was pulled out of my body after I said, “I want to see as God sees.” I was drawn into different experiences as the observer, and as I came closer to what I was seeing, I became the consciousness of whatever I was observing. I knew what it knew, and I felt what it felt.
Through all of it, I was simply the observer — until, during one experience, I had a thought and heard myself think it. This caused me to inquire, “Who is the one thinking?” That question interrupted the flow of the experience, and I was pulled back into my body.
At ten, the outer world vanished and I stood in a dimension of living light, witnessing all my created stories being transmuted into pure peace and joy. In that experience, I received an understanding of why I had gone through the experiences I had lived.
In the frequency of the light within — the Christ Light, the unified field — everything is neutralized. The story is seen from all angles, and the emotions of fear are transcended and transmuted back to their native nothingness. All is accepted, and a comprehension of all that I am was transmitted to me. I realized that forgiveness is not necessary in the presence of the unconditional love and intelligence of Source.
After my life review on November 3, 2000, I was shown my subconscious blueprint and instructed by my Higher Self to write the transcript that became the foundation of my life’s work.
I have also had experiences of becoming the consciousness of what I was observing. In one experience, I became a snowflake while simultaneously witnessing it. This was not induced by psychedelics or any external substance. It occurred after I had participated in a weekend retreat to become a Oneness Blessing Giver, facilitated by a woman whose home was in the Kootenays.
In 2011, I rediscovered the transcript from my life review and found a technique to resolve conflicting or polarized ideas held within my subconscious mind, or aura. This triggered an experience that set me free from the intellectual mind, and for two weeks I saw through the eyes of my Higher Self.
These were direct downloads from Infinite Intelligence.
The Real Danger on Social Media
When someone with influence creates a post and states something definitively, such as “The wise man is one who knows what he does not know,” they may be unwittingly impressing that idea upon the subconscious minds of those who read or hear it. They may be effectively suggesting: “You only have access to what your personal mind can know, imagine, or invent.”
That is the opposite of gnosis.
Gnosis is direct knowing — the superconscious revealing what the personal mind could never fabricate on its own. It is not limited to what Florence Scovel Shinn called the carnal mind, or what I experience as the intellectual, conditioned mind: a limited construct shaped by cultural and religious programming. I know from direct experience that it is possible to be free from that limitation.
The Choice Is Yours
Every day we stand at a crossroads with our subconscious programming. We can continue running the old cultural script, or we can break free by aligning with the Infinite Potential within us.
The way out is not to “imagine harder.”
The way out is to quiet the intellectual mind, open to the superconscious, and receive the divine pictures already waiting for us.
Imagination is not the ceiling.
It is the doorway.
And on the other side of that doorway is the living light of your Higher Self — ready to show you realities far more beautiful than anything you could ever invent on your own.
This is where my attention returns: the outer world is the mirror of past assumptions. If I assume that the body is limited, that technology is necessary to experience more of life, or that the external world is solid and unmoving, then I may be limiting the very potential I came here to embody.
So I ask myself: are these assumptions restricting my full potential to experience the world anew? What becomes possible when I remember that the external is not as fixed as I was led to believe?
