The Automobile Registration Fraud: Pledging Property for State Control

It is almost beyond comprehension that such a deception has been allowed to take root and flourish in what is proclaimed to be “the land of the free.” The very soil consecrated by sacrifice for liberty has been overlaid with a system that silently converts the unalienable rights of men and women into mere privileges, enforced by bureaucracies that profit from control. Through schools, licensing offices, and the drumbeat of official narratives, generations have been indoctrinated to believe that submission to registration, taxation, and regulation is the natural order of civic life. Those who awaken to this fraud and dare to stand on their God-given rights — demanding accountability and exposing the lies — are branded as rebels, extremists, or criminals, when in truth they are the very guardians of freedom. The absurdity is not in their defense of what is right, but in the inversion of justice that punishes them for upholding it, while rewarding those who perpetuate the fraud.

When a man or woman acquires an automobile from the manufacturer, the true evidence of ownership is the Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin (MCO). This document represents the highest form of lawful title, granting the owner full dominion and control over the automobile as private property. Yet in nearly every transaction, the dealer withholds the MCO and forwards it to the Department of Motor Vehicles or state registrar. In exchange, the buyer is issued only a “Certificate of Title,” which is not the original deed of ownership but merely evidence of a user’s interest. This quiet substitution is the beginning of the pledge.

By submitting the automobile to registration, the individual pledges his or her property to the registrar. That pledge converts the private automobile, which in law is classified as consumer goods or household effects, into a “motor vehicle” subject to state regulation. The reclassification is not trivial. It is the legal device that shifts the property from being an extension of one’s household into being an instrument of commerce under statutory jurisdiction. In this way, a natural right — the right to own and use property — is transformed into a privilege administered by the State.

This conversion serves the State’s interests. Once the property is pledged, the State asserts superior title and thereby jurisdiction. The right to travel, which courts from Thompson v. Smith to Chicago Motor Coach v. Chicago have affirmed as a fundamental liberty, is no longer recognized as an inherent right but is reduced to a licensed activity. With licensing comes control. With control comes the apparatus of taxation, regulation, insurance mandates, fines, and penalties. The man or woman, once a freeholder of their automobile, is recast as an operator or driver — a statutory creation existing only under the State’s conditional permission.
